Yes, it’s been nearly a week. But I cannot go on as if the best thing to happen to our country in my lifetime didn’t just happen last week. Because it did. I’ve been too choked up with emotion to pay any attention to my blog, so today’s my first day back. And I just want to say that I am SO PLEASED THRILLED that Barack Obama is going to be our next President. That my child will be born under an Obama administration. That the nation finally came to its senses and elected the RIGHT person for the job.
I first heard Obama speak at the 2004 DNC (on tv – not in person). I was so moved by this man I had never before heard of that I found a transcript of his speech online, printed it, and physically MAILED it to people. I began proclaiming him the next President of the U.S. then and there, and I’ve followed him with great admiration ever since. I know he will accomplish great things, and that our country is about to embark on a great and positive path. Change won’t happen overnight (after all, we’re pretty messed up), but it will happen.

Glad to hear from you, Lisa! I worry when you don’t post. How goes the pregnancy?

Better, Eloise. Thanks for asking! Although I’ve had more morning sickness in the last few weeks than previously, my fatigue is subsiding a bit I think, and that was really the worst thing for me.

Well, I hope your right. I hope I am wrong in every way about Obama. I hope I can put aside the fact that he disagrees with the right of newborns. I hope I can see past his corrupt ways and lies. I hope he turns out to be the best president we have evern seen. I hope he can turn this economy around and get us back on our feet. I hope he can end this war without having it bite him in the ass. I hope we can increase our oil market, reduce prices and find new ways to conserve energy. I hope, but I doubt. He’s already proven to me a lying SOB. Outside of the fact that him and his fellow democratic Congressmen are solely responsible for our mortgage chrisist, he represented them in a lawsuit that he helped create. Yeah, we’re in a mess, but the president is not soley responsible for anything. People tend to forget the ole’ “checks and balance.” I hope I am wrong, I hope he isn’t the narcisistic character I think he is. I hope he is the God everyone else says he is.

I saw a poll last night on CBS Evening News that showed that 71% of Americans, regardless of how they voted, are optimistic about the next 4 years with Obama as president. You must fall into the 17% that’s pessimistic. (Not sure what happened to the other 12%.) Regarding checks and balances, I agree that Bush isn’t SOLELY responsible for the state of affairs. Which is why I’m glad this election also yielded a Democrat controlled House & Senate. Finally, I’ve never heard any Obama supporter I know refer to him as God or Messiah. I’ve only heard that come from his opponents. How curious.

Hallelujah indeed. (And glad you’re feeling better.)
