wanderlust Wednesday

So, as a tribute to my wanderlust, I’ve decided to start posting a photo every Wednesday – at least for a while – from my various travels. A way for me to get lost in memories and share a bit of myself with you.

This photo was taken at a dance studio in Arapongas, Brazil. I felt like Ginger Rogers. May 2006.

  • Enquiring minds want details on how you happened to be in a dance studio in Brazil!

  • :) I was very fortunate to be part of a 5-person Rotary International team that went to Brazil for 4 1/2 weeks on a professional exchange. It was all expenses paid, we lived with host families in four different cities, and – in addition to touring many farms, businesses, ethanol plants, etc. – got to tour libraries and interview librarians in Brazil. We were also interviewed for television, AND my photo was in the paper three times in two different cities. In one instance, a photographer actually showed up at a shoe store to photograph me shopping. It was an awesome experience, and we were treated like superstars.

Our host families/host Rotary clubs organized many fun things for us to do, including a dance lesson with “Profesor Luciano” and his fellow dancers at the studio. It was an exhausting but absolutely exciting (and HOT) 3 hours!
